La Mama, was born in San Gimignano in Italy in 1941. At the age of 19 she married her childhood sweetheart Alfredo, who worked as a car mechanic. After many years struggle they won the lottery and moved to Cinque Terre where they had their second daughter. La Mama, as she is known to everyone, is an accomplished painter and has had many exhibitions throughout Italy and France.
